Process

The mission that my group and I chose to do was YouTube. I liked the idea of doing our mission on Youtube as I am fascinated by YouTube and everything its about. I really wanted to find out more about the history of youtube, the careers within youtube and how adverts work in relation to YouTube. I myself enjoy watching various people on youtube so I think that made the mission a slight bit easier as it was something I had already had a great interest in so I really enjoyed the process of the mission. To form our group we just found out who would also have an interest in youtube and finding out more about it so we could give everyone else whom we were presenting it to a better insight aswell as learning more ourselves. Overall I found it an enjoyable and interesting mission.

Game Design

  I think the information I have read is so interesting. I never really thought about games as how they’re designed and how they work, to be honest I’ve never really had much thought about them at all. Although after reading what I’ve read I’ve learned a lot. I’ve seen the definition of a game as “play activity with rules that involves conflict” and I thought that is a really good definition of what a game is and I’ve never seen that before so I thought that was a good way of putting it. Games have a set of rules with an outcome that involves no actual prize or wealth from it, which I also learned from what I read. I learned a lot from my reading, including, games are an activity, they have rules, they have conflict, they have goals they are a form of art, although you have to remember games are artificial, they are made up and not real but when we’re playing them that’s not what we have in mind. I enjoyed reading through the information on game design very much.

Process- Digital Journalism

For this mission my group and I chose digital journalism. I enjoyed doing this as it was very interactive and another subject I had great interest in.Before we started doing this video we got together and decided what we wanted to do. We decided to take various surveys and physically ask people of all different ages how they think digital journalism has changed over the years in everybodys lives, whether it be work school or for our own leisure. We also wanted to find out how many people still actually sit down to watch the news instead of reading headlines our phones and searching different bits on the internet, which we are all guilty of. During this mission I messaged a few of my friends on snapchat and asked them to screenshot their screen times and send them to me so I could compare how long each of us spent on our phones and how long we spent on each app. The average between my friends and I including Sam and Jade who were in my group was seven hours a day and it was showing that

Game Brainstorm

  FIFA I have chosen 4 games that I want to explore and brainstorm. The first one I have chosen is Fifa. I would like to see a game similar to fifa but for Gaelic football instead of soccer. I like the idea of this because I think there’s so much circulation around soccer (understandably) but we are Irish and I think it would be good to have a game that represents a sport a lot of us Irish people play and love. I don’t know much about games or ever really play them but I would love to get to know more about them and I am enjoying the process and learning as I go.
