The mission we were doing was digital journalism. Our group met up and discussed our mission and decided to do various surveys and ask people of different age groups how they rely on digital journalism today. While researching this information we found out that young people use their phones more than twice as much as people over the age of thirty as we found out that people from the age fifteen to thirty spend on average of 7 hours per day on their phones where as the people we questioned over the age of thirty averaged at 2 hours per day. We also asked various questions to different people to find out if they are completely dependent on their phones and they all said yes they were and that they wouldn't be able to live without them. Majority of the younger people we asked all said snapchat was the first app they check when the get up in the morning. A lot of people including ourselves use snapchat for their news stories and entertainment news rather than actually watching the news or reading the news paper. A lot of people said it was much more convenient for them as they always have their phones on them so they can check up on the news where or whenever they wanted rather than going out and buying a newspaper or waiting for the news in the evenings. Personally myself cant remember the last time I watched the news on the television but I am always aware and up to date on our surroundings as I keep a close eye on my phone. Very few people said they still watch it on the television but some still enjoy it. I enjoyed gathering this information as it put perspective on how reliant we are on a single device and how much digital journalism has an impact today.
